Malton Brass 2010
Unfortunately owing to a shortage
of entries this year’s “Malton Brass” contest, due to take place
in November, has had to be cancelled. We hope for a successful contest
in 2011.

Elland get Queen's Award
Congratulations to Elland Silver on gaining the 'Queen’s Award for
Voluntary Service' - the MBE for volunteer groups.
This recognises outstanding contributions made to local
communities by groups voluntarily devoting their time for the benefit of
others and sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering,
with the work of those awarded being judged of the highest standard.
Elland has received the award for its work over many years by its team
of volunteers who provide expert musical tuition to people of all ages
and backgrounds, for performing brass band music to the local and wider
community, supporting local and national charities and for continuing
the heritage of brass bands. For more details click

Sad News
WATERHOUSE, ROY of
Tockwith, passed away unexpectedly on March 23rd, dearly missed
grandfather, father, partner and brother. Service at York Crematorium
on Thursday April 1st at ll.30am.

Memorial
for Dennis Hill

Members of Dennis' family and representatives of YHBBA gathered at
Hardraw Scar to lay his ashes to rest there. A Rowan tree was planted
and a plaque installed as a lasting memorial to Dennis in a place where
he contributed so much.
